Apple has designed AirPods in such a way that you don’t need to turn them off. As a result, they don’t have a physical on/off switch. They always remain active for you to use with your devices.

However, they do come with a power-saving mode that helps conserve battery. You can use this mode on all three models of the AirPods.
How to Enable Low-Power Mode on AirPods and AirPods Pro
On AirPods (1st and 2nd gen) and AirPods Pro, you can activate low-power mode by using your AirPods’ charging case.
Simply put your AirPods into their charging case, and they’ll enter low-power mode. During this period, your AirPods will consume less energy, and they’ll also get charged from the case.
And that’s as close as you can get to “turning off” your AirPods!
How to Enable Low-Power Mode on AirPods Max
On an AirPods Max, you can enable low-power mode by placing it on a flat surface for five minutes. Your AirPods Max will realize that you’re not using it, and it will go into power-saving mode.
Alternatively, you can activate low-power mode by putting your AirPods Max into its Smart Case.
AirPods Max comes with another feature to save energy. This feature turns off Bluetooth and Find My on your AirPods Max after your device has been idle for a certain number of hours.
When you leave your AirPods Max stationery outside of its case for 72 hours, the power-saving mode gets enabled. The time limit changes to 18 hours if you keep your AirPods Max in its Smart Case.
And those are some of the ways to “turn off” AirPods and save the battery juice. These might not be what you’re looking for, but that’s all Apple has for you.
